Ahh, the infamous oblique strategies. I'll try and come up with a couple oblique strategems for everyone here, too.
*Go smell the ocean. Take a Big, Deep SSSNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
*Do something extremely pretentious. Good example: I once read in an Eric Clapton interview that when he was younger, he wouldn't talk to anyone who didn't know who Robert Johnson was. Another good example... "Do you know about Iannis Xenakis?"
"no."
"oh. Well I'm not talking to you, then, you ignoramus."
*Engage in very, very strenuous physical activity until you are absolutely exhausted. Then, drink as much water as you can fit into your stomach and see if you vomit it out.
*Try combining ingredients you've never combined before. An example: in Taiwan, someone combined pork and ice cream. A combination I would have never considered.
*Get a job just to see how long it takes to get fired.
Hey John, those are some extreme approaches to creative strategy; I always drink till I vomit before approaching the creative process... just kidding.
Erick, I think your at less of a impass then you think. Try factoring out the haulicoust elements and de-construct what your project is compiled from; Hactivism elements (scrubbing the web for specific elements and redisplaying them), Social engineering (re-discovering information, specifically history, through a mediated pov), textual and visual deconstruction/reconstruction. I think you have a strong construct here it just needs to change focus in a unique way. Check out http://www.wrongbrowser.com/ (if the browsers aren't there I can bring them to class for you). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jodi.org may also be a good place to find bearing (check out the links).

Don't worry man, I have faith you'll do just fine! I guess the real question is, how obvious or abstracted in all senses of the word do you want your project to be? I think it would be benifitial to have a balance of both. Have strong, suggestive gestures with abstract material or a mix of one or the other. As far as the implementation, thats up to you! Keep at it mang!
